Why Ray Dalio Believes That Knowing Yourself Better Is The Key To Business Success

Adam Grant and the billionaire businessman have created a free personality assessment tool that will help you test your hunch.

At least 12 personality assessments are likely to have been done. I was told by some that it was a shark. It was either a shark or a turtle in one case. It’s not clear how it happened. Another claimed he was a commander. After a few decades of leading only myself and not following people, I am now a leader.

Most were interesting. Some of them provoked “Hmm …”” moments.

None of them were practical though, particularly since my employers tended to emphasize the ways that I could improve aspects of myself. You could, for example, be more open to conflict. You can also take on more risks professionally. Allow my emotions to guide my decisions. In hindsight, they were more like them.

This is a problem. It is possible to learn how to do certain things differently. However, it is unlikely that you will be able to do these things naturally. It’s unlikely.

All of this combined, although I enjoyed taking personality tests, they weren’t very useful to me.

The PrinciplesYou Personality Assessment was free and I completed it. It was the work of Ray Dalio, Adam Grant and Drs. Brian Little and John Golden. This tool does not have the goal of changing your personality. It is designed to help you better understand yourself and others, so that you can use this knowledge to work better together and achieve more.

“Twenty-five year ago, I was curious about why certain people around me see things differently. It was impossible to me,” Dalio explains to Inc. “So 150 managers took the Myers-Briggs Test and I realized that I saw things differently from his perspective. It was then that it all started to make sense for us. We learned how to work together better.

This should be the ultimate goal of any personality test. This is the true value of personality assessments. It will help you to interact better with others, lead better, follow better and build better relationships.

Both at a personal level and in business. Dalio says, “When you get to know yourself and the people around your, you can build better teams.” You can better understand what people expect. This will help you to determine the best jobs for them. You will also be able to spark conversation and laughter along the way.

Dalio also added personality assessments to his Bridgewater team-building toolkit. He was not content. He created a new, stronger tool to solve this problem.

However, the word “robust”, also refers to being long. It takes time to complete the PrinciplesYou assessment. It can be repetitive and takes a while to complete. It’s repetitive, but it serves a purpose: The tool evaluates your thinking, how to face challenges, how well you interact with others and how you behave in different situations.

My strengths are peacemaker. I seek harmony, compromise, and cooperation. I am empathetic, diplomatic, approachable, agile, and personable. Although I am a bit of an idiot sometimes, this sounds great. However, there is no perfect testing tool. I have the qualities of a Helper and a Campaigner. Someone who gathers people around ideas, positions, and solutions and achieves practical results.

I’m not a trainer. This is the main Dalio archetype and would make us all fit in professionally. Ray, feel free to contact me.

Dalio says, “It could become too strong or too abrasive.” “Every Shaper requires a Peacemaker. As Peacekeepers require Shapers.”

This is the true advantage of PrinciplesYou. Invite your colleagues, family members, and friends. – to complete the evaluation and then compare your findings. (Which Dalio agreed with me would be a great exercise for a dinner party.

Dalio says that self-discovery is essential for people and their relationships. It has been a key to all of the success that I have achieved.

This is why the evaluation doesn’t focus on what you should do to change certain aspects. Or, like my bosses, to use it for “development”.

Dalio says, “Your nature has advantages and disadvantages.” It is a great strength to know where you are weak and where you need support. It doesn’t mean you have to change everything. You don’t have to change everything about yourself.

It is important to realize that you don’t have to agree immediately if it is not possible due to the differences in personality. If the other person prefers to take quick decisions, ask them for some thought and reflection before moving on.

You should not think about what you want or how others will respond. Instead, think about what makes them work best. What makes them feel more at ease? They feel valued, respected, and included.

Create relationships that are buoyant and open to all. Yours and others.

Dalio says, “You can’t change the nature of your character.” Dalio says, “So why bother?” You can get what you need from someone else. To do this, you must first get to know yourself and the people around.

We are all part of the same team. This means that success, however you define it, is dependent on being part the right teams.

It’s also important to be able “work” together professionally and personally in the best way possible for each of us.
